Linda Kasonde made history as the first female President of the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ), serving from 2016 to 2018.
During her tenure, she demonstrated exceptional leadership and a strong commitment to justice and the rule of law.
She led LAZ in several high-profile court cases, fiercely defending the Constitution and safeguarding the independence of the judiciary. One of her outstanding accomplishments was leading the Association in a lawsuit against the government, challenging the amendment of the Public Order Act.
Her presidency was marked by efforts to strengthen the legal framework, including calls for the implementation of reforms that enhance access to justice for all Zambians.
As a champion for women’s rights, Ms. Kasonde initiated programs aimed at empowering female lawyers and addressing gender disparities within the legal profession.
