United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) says Edgar Lungu and the Patriotic Front are no longer members of the alliance.
Saboi Imboela, the alliance information chairman said the former president ceased to be a member of the alliance the moment he joined Tonse.
On Sunday whilst attending a church service at UCZ, said UKA and Tonse Alliances are one and the same. But Imboela told the Daily Revelation that Lungu lost his UKA membership the day he joined the Tonse Alliance.
Last week, the Tonse Alliance, a breakaway faction of the United Kwacha Alliance, unveiled former President Edgar Lungu as its candidate for the 2026 general elections.
This announcement was made following the signing ceremony and launch of the alliance at Palm Valley Lodge in Chongwe.
The Tonse Alliance comprises Edgar Lungu’s surrogates who were kicked out of the United Kwacha Alliance for imposing his candidacy in the 2026 elections.
Lungu still faces an eligibility case before the Constitutional Court regarding the 2021 General Election and future elections, with a judgment set for December 10, 2024.
