12th November, 2024 – Livingstone City Council today held the 2025 consultative budget meeting with key stakeholders engaging the community in an open dialogue about the upcoming year’s budget priorities.
The meeting provided a platform for stakeholders including local business leaders, civil society representatives, civic leaders, religious leaders and those from the tourism sector to contribute their ideas for projects that could enhance the quality of life and stimulate economic growth in the district.
The Council emphasized that stakeholder feedback is vital to crafting a budget that addresses the real needs of Livingstone’s communities. Attendees were encouraged to propose projects across various sectors, including infrastructure, health, education, and tourism development.
Suggestions included road improvements, sanitation initiatives, human and animals conflict initiatives.
Council officials highlighted the importance of aligning proposed projects with Livingstone’s long-term Integrated Development Plans (IDP) particularly in areas such as sustainable tourism and community-driven economic empowerment.
Stakeholders were invited to submit proposals for additional projects they believe should be prioritized in the 2025 budget.
The Livingstone City Council aims to create a budget that not only reflects the aspirations of its citizens but also supports the sustainable growth of the district.
