CHRISTMAS has come earlier than expected for Mukolo grounds – based Grannies Football team in Kamanga compound following a donation of assorted soccer items to the team by local businessman Chrispin Chiinda.
Grannies in Kamanga have come together and formed a solid soccer team which they use to promote fitness in the community, an initiative Chiinda alias Chris Mall commended.
The local business guru recently made a pledge to support the Granny’s team as a way of motivating them and true to his words, Chiinda has handed over brand new soccer jerseys and footballs to the Grannies.
Handing over the kit, Chiinda appealed to the team to encourage their colleagues to join the squad.
Having embraced physical fitness himself in the community, the aspiring MP for Munali constituency which also houses Kamanga compound emphasized the need for all age groups to take part in community sport activities. He said by engaging in sport such as “Mandalaz” football, senior members of the community would be fighting Non – Communicable Diseases associated with old age.
Meanwhile, Granny’s team captain Matilda Tembo said the gesture by Chiinda had come at the right team when the squad was in need of a new kit.
Tembo urged Chiinda to continue inspiring people with his various community engagements, among them, support to sports development.
She said the team had been motivated with Chiinda’s donation amounting to a K10,000 in total.
Residents have been advised to look forward to another Chrispin Chiinda – sponsored 2024 Christmas tournament in Munali Constituency with aspiring law marker having sponsored similar competitions in previous years.
