Fuel shortages have resurfaced in Kitwe, with long queues forming at service stations that have had the commodity since last night.
A Phoenix news survey this morning found that most town center filling stations were out of petrol while queues formed at Puma Service Station opposite the Zambia Revenue Authority-ZRA and Rubis town center while Total, other Rubis, and Puma service stations in town center were without petrol.
By 07:00 hours today, taxi drivers and motorists queued, others with plastic containers and jerry cans, desperate to refuel amid the scarcity of petrol.
Zambia has experienced a fuel shortage crisis within the past few weeks, attributed to logistical challenges in Zimbabwe where tankers are expected to pay thousands of dollars and Mozambique where post-election violence caused a disruption.
Other sector players have cited alleged unfavorable fuel pump price adjustments as reasons that have sparked a protest by oil marketing companies who have halted imports, leading to shortages in various parts of the country.
