In the quest to improve the road network in the district, Kawambwa Town Council has completed works on the selected township roads at the total cost of K100,000.00.
The works that were funded under the Road Sector Grant has seen Clerks compound road, Pilula- St. Mary’s road, FRA, new plots, old Mansa road and Care road all graded.
The Local Authority has graded 12 km of the township roads and will soon commence working on the 22 km Kala road at the total cost of K200,000.
Phase 1 of the works on Kala road will start from Ntulo road to Kawambwa Provincial STEM secondary school while phase 2 will start from Kawambwa Provincial STEM secondary school to Muchulila.
The scope of works on Kala road will include; grading, spot improvement and light grading, V- drain formation, miter drains and unblocking of culverts.
The Local Authority remains committed to ensuring that the road network in the district is worked on, so as to reduce on the risk of accidents and making sure that transportation is made smoother and more efficient.
A reliable road network remains key to achieving developmental goals as it facilitates easier movement of people and goods which results in spurring economic activities and growth.
As the district is growing, a good road network remains an important aspect in creating a vital link for delivering social and economic services to rural communities and significantly contribute to inclusive economic growth of our country.
The Local Authority has the mandate to connect communities, facilitate trade, enable the community access essential services such as education, healthcare and ensuring that economic growth and development, enhanced mobility and accessibility, social integration and connectivity and environmental sustainability are attained in the district.
