KALOMO TOWN COUNCIL RECEIVES 2.7 MILLION KWACHA WORLD BANK GRANT

Kalomo Town Council held its 3rd Full Council meeting today, where the Council Secretary announced the receipt of Two Million Seven Hundred Kwacha devolution fund grant from the World Bank for 2024.

The Council has allocated this funding to several key projects aimed at bolstering local infrastructure and services.

The largest portion of the grant will go toward the Truck Yard Development, a major project to complete the truck yard facility.

This initiative aims to provide a dedicated logistical hub to enhance revenue for the local authority and reduce congestion from trucks parked overnight in the central business district.Another significant project under the grant is the completion of the Main Market Shelter in Mwaata Ward.

The shelter will provide local vendors with a weather-protected space to sell their goods, improving working conditions and supporting the local economy.

The final project in this round of funding is the Construction of Police Station Staff Housing in Kasukwe Ward.

This housing is intended to provide essential on-site accommodation for police personnel, supporting the local police forceโ€™s operational needs.1.5 MILLION KWACHA TRANSPORT GRANT FOR ROAD WORKS.

The Council Secretary also reported the receipt of One million, five hundred fifty-nine thousand, one hundred fifty Kwacha (K 1,559,150), transport grant from the Ministry of Finance.

This grant is designated for road construction projects throughout the district, including grading and creating crossing points on selected roads to improve transportation infrastructure.

These projects are expected to enhance access across the district and facilitate smoother travel for residents.
