In a community empowerment initiative funded by the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF), two motorbikes were handed over to Mwansabombwe and Kabalenge wards, complementing the 40 bicycles previously distributed in the community.
The handover ceremony which took place at the Mwansabombwe Council’s Community Hall, where Mwansabombwe District Commissioner Rosemary Mwiche was the guest of honor.
The event underscored government’s commitment to supporting local communities and improving transportation in underserved areas.
In her address, District Commissioner Mwiche expressed gratitude to His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema for his dedication to grassroots development.
She highlighted that such initiatives are essential for promoting equitable access to resources, especially in rural areas where transportation is often a barrier to progress.
Commissioner Mwiche emphasized that these motorbikes would greatly improve mobility for local leaders and help them serve their communities more efficiently.
Speaking at the same function Mwansabombwe Town Council Chairperson Mr. Terrioh Chungu delivered the opening remarks, reinforcing the local authority’s dedication to fostering development in line with the national agenda. Mr. Chungu acknowledged the strategic role of the CDF in addressing the unique needs of communities, from transportation, health to education.
He further noted that the Council will continue to identify priority areas that need support to drive local progress.
Meanwhile the Constituency Development Fund Committee (CDFC) Chairperson Ilunga Kazembe,who was represented by John Bowa expressed appreciation for the government’s continuous support through the CDF.
He remarked that the addition of motorbikes will enable community leaders to reach more remote areas, facilitating better access to essential services.
Mr.Kazembe assured the attendees that the CDFC will ensure effective use of these resources to benefit the community.
The 2024 CDF budget has enabled numerous projects in Mwansabombwe district in different sectors underscoring government’s ongoing commitment to improving living standards and infrastructure in the constituency.
The motorbikes and bicycles are expected to significantly ease the transportation challenges for leaders who serve the community, contributing to more seamless service delivery.
The handover ceremony marked yet another milestone in Mwansabombwe’s journey towards development.
Mwansabombwe WDC Chairperson Benson Munona expressed appreciation on behalf of the two wards for government’s intervention, hopeful that these resources will create lasting impacts in both Mwansabombwe and Kabalenge wards respectively.
