Chikankata District Commissioner, Timothy Chipolyonga, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating hunger through agriculture.
He emphasized that the government is dedicated to ensuring food security, particularly in rural areas like Chikankata, by distributing farming inputs early, giving farmers ample time to prepare their fields.
“The New Dawn government prioritizes the well-being of our people, especially regarding food security,” said Chipolyonga.
This year, we’ve distributed inputs on time to address the people’s concerns.”
He urged farmers to utilize the inputs wisely, cautioning against selling them.
“Please safeguard these inputs for next year’s food security. You’ll have nothing to plant or use as fertilizer when the rains begin if you sell them.”
He added Mr. Chipolyonga commended President Hakainde Hichilema for fulfilling his promise of early input distribution under the FISP program for the 2024-2025 farming season.
However, he noted that some agro-dealers are inactive, hindering farmers from accessing inputs.
This initiative aligns with efforts to improve agricultural productivity and food security, as seen in other successful programs.
