Jolly Kamwanga, a close associate of Victor Mapani, has quit the ZESCO board, citing incompetence of the board chair, after efforts to reinstate Mapani as MD failed.
Kamwanga resignation is second after the departure of Matembo Lisimba, the Company Secretary who resigned protesting the dismissal of her best friend boss.
Both individuals are accused of trying to blackmail and subvert the appointing authority. 
Interestingly, since Mapani’s forced leave pending contract expiration, ZESCO has been reducing load shedding hours.”
Mapani, has been using some compromised board members to lobby individuals inside the system to persuade President Hakainde Hichilema, also IDC Chairperson, to reverse his dismissal.
Mapani, known for his arrogance and abusive leadership at the state power utility firm, has been using influential individuals to plead his case
Mapani’s dismissal should have occurred in June, but Minister Peter Kapala reversed the Board’s decision due to intimidation.
Mapani has been masquerading and intimidating people, claiming he’s untouchable due to his alleged close relationship with President Hakainde Hichilema, which is not true.
Mapani tried to bribed union leaders to convince workers that ZESCO cannot function without, the move that has failed as workers are organizing his exit party at an appropriate time.
