Following the forced leave of Victor Mapani, ZESCO Limited’s former Managing Director, the state power utility firm has seen significant improvements.
According to a source within the company, located along Great East Road, the load shedding situation could have been normalized if Mapani had been dismissed in June.
His dismissal was initially recommended due to incompetence, but former Minister of Energy Peter Kapala, now Livestock and Fisheries Minister, reversed the board’s decision allegedly due to intimidation.
As of today, November 6, 2024, ZESCO Limited has introduced a new power rationing schedule, providing a consistent 7-hour daily power supply.
This adjustment aims to enhance service reliability through optimized power imports and maximized contributions from Independent Power Producers.
While ZESCO strives to maintain this schedule, occasional adjustments may be necessary due to factors like power import availability or unforeseen technical challenges.
Key Updates:
- New Power Rationing Schedule: 7-hour daily power supply
- Enhanced Service Reliability: Optimized power imports and Independent Power Producers’ contributions
- Real-time Updates: Through established channels
- Reporting Outages: Customers encouraged to report outages lasting over 24 hours
ZESCO appreciates the public’s understanding and reaffirms its commitment to delivering the best possible service during this period.
