Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Elvis Nkandu has handed over 112 empowerment grants and 12 motorbikes to selected youths from all 14 wards of Chikankata Constituency.
Additionally, Nkandu gifted the youths with 20 sets of football jerseys and 20 footballs to promote sports development in the district.
During the handover ceremony, Nkandu emphasized the government’s role in providing young people with effective, tangible, and sustainable solutions to enable them to contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.
He urged the beneficiaries to invest the resources wisely to develop their families and Zambia.
Nkandu expressed his happiness with the high voter turnout among young people for the UPND and encouraged them to continue trusting President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership, citing his commitment to Zambia’s well-being.
Chikankata District Commissioner Timothy Chipolyonga noted that the handover of empowerment programs demonstrates the government’s dedication to its citizens’ welfare.
Since taking office in 2021, the UPND-led government has prioritized creating opportunities, fostering growth, and ensuring inclusivity.
Nkandu also addressed concerns about greed among local leaders and their relatives, stressing the need for change.
He highlighted that this empowerment program is part of an ongoing national initiative focused on youth development.
