YOU ONLY WANT TO DANCE TO MY SONGS BUT NEVER VOTE, DRIMZ TELLS OFF FANS

WHILE annual music awards are meant to celebrate the most deserving artistes of that year in their different categories, some Zambian music fans have condemned this year’s Kwacha Music Awards in some categories which they feel some artistes deserved to win.

This is despite the awards allowing fans to vote for the nominated artistes in their respective categories.

One specific award classification that has received controversy is on the ‘Song of the Year’ award that saw rapper, Jemax carrying the day with his song, ‘Mphawi’ which he featured Jae Cash.

Also nominated in the category was Yo Maps with ‘Somone’, Mr Crown with ‘Don’t Go Away’, Chile One Mr Zambia with ‘So Chabe’, JC Kalinks with ‘Ichibyongo’, Christine with ‘Nfisa Yesu’, Chef I87 with ‘360’ and Drimz Mr Musik with ‘Single’.

However, many fans feel the award was meant to be presented to a song that has made an impact since the year began and still is.

In this case, music lovers in most comment sections feel that Drimz has been robbed of the award, stating that the famous “Single” song, where the artiste features his fellow Kabwe entertainer Jemax, deserved to be the song of the year, 2024.

The song was released in February this year with 8.7 million views on YouTube while Mphawi, the winning song, was released four months ago with 2.6 million views on YouTube views.

“Single deserved to win it. The song did it for 2024,” commented a fan, Gabby Simz.

Drimz was nominated in four different categories this year but came out without an award.

The song, Single, was and is still being played by most Zambians, earning it more numbers on all the streaming numbers.

Nonetheless, the song still could not earn Drimz an award.

“Iyi yena I’m not happy. Single was and still song of the Year. Elo ba Kwacha next should allow us to vote as many times as we can not kamofye kwapwa,” another fan, Chilufya kay complained.

Meanwhile, the artiste himself, posted on his Facebook, saying he deserved to win at least one award from the nominations.

And despite some fans echoing his sentiments on the same, the Single hit maker condemned his supporters for only dancing to his songs and using them on kitchen parties, but never voting for him in awards.

“We made history, probably the First Dope Zambian Artist to get FOUR different Nominations in one Night and Walking Away Without a “SINGLE” Award (no pun intended) Ntoteleniko Guys (clap for me)

“Mwema Fans bandi Mwatemwafye Ukushana Inyimbo Shandi But Tamuvota! Muliba Ivory Zoona (my fans, you only want to dance to my music but you never vote for me. You are fake),” posted the artist.

He further hash tagged his post to the BallondOr, probably indicating that he was robbed of the awards.
