Zambia National Commission for UNESCO, Head Cultural Sector, SAMUEL KANTINI says returning the Broken Hill Man to Zambia is the right thing to do.
Dr KANTINI has since called on the Zambian government through embassies to further engage with the United Kingdom beyond the UNESCO facilitated talks to have the matter of Broken Hill Man resolved.
Dr. KANTINI said this via ZOOM during the International Museums Conference in Livingstone.
He says the Broken Hill Man is not just an object for Zambians but an ancestor.
And speaking at the same event, International Committee for Regional Museums Chairperson ZAHIDA QUADRI says with globalization taking centre stage, it is important that youths are guided on their cultural heritage.
Ms. QUADRI says in the case of Zambia attaining 60 years of independence, there is a shift of generations hence the need for the older generations to pass on the memories of the struggle to youths.
Meanwhile, Natural History International Committee of the International Council of Museums Chairperson DORIT WOLENITZ says it is important that museum activities are aligned to the agenda 2030.
