THE Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) has donated 277 mattresses and bed sheets to vulnerable pupils in Kasama District.
The Mattresses and bed sheets have been given to pupils who are in weekly boarding schools.Speaking when she handed over the Mattresses, Kasama District Commissioner Annie Paul commended the CAMFED for their continued support to the education sector.
Mrs Paul revealed that most girls who are in weekly boarding lack beddings because their parents can not afford to provide for them.She added that the development has come at the right time as it will help the learners have a comfortable place to sleep.
She further reminded the learners supported by the CAMFED to study hard if they are to make it in life.And CAMFED Association in Zambia Chairperson Harriet Lukanda pledged the organization’s continued commitment to supporting marginalized girls in society.
Mrs Lukanda said her organization is working with government to ensure that no girl child drops out of school due to lack of support.Over 200 vulnerable girls from 17 schools will benefit from the mattresses and beddings which the organization has donated to the ministry of education in Kasama District.
And Memory Mukuka a grade 12 pupil at Ituna Secondary school who is being supported by CAMFED has praised the organization for the support it is rendering to vulnerable girls.
