ZIMBA TOWN COUNCIL ISSUES A TWO-MONTH ULTIMATUM FOR PAYMENT OF LEVIES
ZIMBA Town Council has issued a two-months ultimatum for payment of levies.
The local authority says all traders and business houses operating in its domain should renew their business levy, health and fire permit certificates for next year 2025 or face persecution.
The Council advises that the period for renewal of licenses is effective October 29th and will end on December 31st, 2024 and payments can be paid at Indo-Zambia Bank, Zimba branch.
It warns that failure to this , it will attract a penalty fee of K1,000 or face prosecution.
In a Press Release made available to ZANIS, Council Secretary Collins Simoonga said this is pursuant to Local Government Act Number 2 of 2019 ready together with Public Health Act Cap 295 Safety Act Number 7 of the Laws of Zambia.
“Renew your trading, health and fire permits for the year 2025. Pay on time to avoid any inconveniences,” Mr. Simoonga said.
He said the local authority embarked on a sensitization exercise to educate traders on the need to renew their licenses.
The Council Secretary noted that some shop and butchery owners allegedly operate unlawfully after the expiry of their trading licenses.
“After January 2nd, 2025, the Council will start prosecuting the erring proprietors that would otherwise decide to defy and abrogate the law by not renewing their trading licenses,” he stated.
He added that Council Inspectors and Police would check on the compliance level of the business community.
